Water purification startup raises $1.55 million
Money will support production, add staff
Milwaukee startup Stonehouse Water Technologies LLC raised $1.55 million in funding to support its water purification product line, the company announced.
Stonehouse Water Technologies, founded in 2012, is developing a water purification system to be launched commercially in the spring. The $1.55 million round will help support its production and the addition of two new staff members, said Vice Preisdent Anne Wick. The company now has eight employees.
The WaterPOD 8 will be sold to three main markets: private wells, new home construction and agriculture.
Stonehouse Water Technologies’ product is about the size of a dehumidifier but can purify enough water for a household. The product will be sold for less than $6,000, Wick said.
Stonehouse was part of the Water Council’s pilot program that supports new water technologies and has its offices in the Global Water Center on Freshwater Way.
Mark G. Sellers was the lead investor in the round of financing with his company MGS Manufacturing Group, which was sold to Mason Wells last year.
“Stonehouse’s technology and team represents Milwaukee’s strong expertise in the water, manufacturing and growing technology industries,” Sellers said in a news release. “We are looking forward to a strong partnership leveraging our manufacturing and design experience with Stonehouse’s innovation and successfully piloted products.”
