Alexa, flush it!

Kohler’s new product lets your voice command the commode.

- Steve Jagler

With Kohler Konnect, Kohler Co.’s new smart bathroom system, you won’t have to press the lever to flush the toilet anymore.

Instead, the new Numi toilet, Kohler’s most advanced model, will be voice- or motion-activated to sense when you’re done with your business and will flush it away.

Meanwhile, you’ll be surrounded in preset ambient lighting and Bluetoothsynced music while you are pampered with a heated seat and a foot warmer.

“Voice services and connected devices have become integrated into every facet of the home — with the notable exception of the bathroom, until now,” David Kohler, president and CEO of Kohler Co., said in a statement. “We provide thoughtful design and technologies that offer convenience and functionality to enrich your personalized experiences, making them easier, more comfortable, and more enjoyable. Whether you’re getting ready for work, helping your children through their evening bedtime routine or simply in need of some personal relaxation, Kohler Konnect is the next evolution of our leading-edge kitchen and bathroom innovations that help make these everyday moments better.”

Consumers can interact with Kohler Konnect by using voice commands, hands-free motion control and personalized presets managed through a new application for iPhones and Android devices.

Consumers can operate the kitchen faucet, control features of an intelligent toilet, adjust the lighting embedded in a bathroom mirror, run a shower and fill a bath to a desired depth and temperature all by using voice commands.

Powered by the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, Kohler Konnect enables consumers to set up preferences, automate everyday tasks and monitor water usage of paired products.

The Kohler Konnect system will be compatible with Amazon Alexa, the Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit.

The itemized Kohler Konnect system will be available for purchase in March with the following price points: $999 to $1,299 for the Verdera voice-lighted mirror, $3,300 for the DTV+ shower system, $160 for the PureWarmth toilet seat and $5,625 to $7,825 for the Numi intelligent toilet.

Kohler Konnect is making its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show with a collection of smart home kitchen and bath products. The CES will begin Sunday in Las Vegas.
