Eagle River: World Championsh­ip Snowmobile Derby. More than 1,400 snowmobile riders will compete in this derby in Eagle River Jan. 18-21. Day passes start at $25. See derbytrack. com.

La Farge: Ice Cave Hike Series. Join guided hikes of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve's icicle-laced caves the last two Saturdays in January and the first two Saturdays in February. Registrati­on is required and is $10 per person; kids 10 and under are free. See

Union Grove: Winterfest. Snowmobile radar runs are the highlight of this festival Jan. 20 at the Great Lakes Dragaway. There will also be live music, raffles, children's activities and food.

Throughout Wisconsin: Candleligh­t ski and hike events. Join candleligh­t ski, snowshoe or hike events at Copper Culture State Park (5:30-8 p.m.), Governor Dodge State Park (68:30 p.m.) Horicon Marsh (5-9 p.m.) and the Nordic Trails in the Kettle Moraine State Forest (6-9 p.m.) on Jan. 20. Most events have bonfires and refreshmen­ts; pets are not permitted on ski trails.
