Nutella-Stuffed Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries

Placing the strawberries, tip side down, in an empty egg carton makes the Nutella stuffing process easier in this recipe.

-

Makes 12 strawberries

❚ 12 large fresh strawberries, cleaned and dried

❚ 1⁄3 cup Nutella

❚ 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips or chocolate bar, coarsely chopped

❚ 1⁄3 cup finely chopped hazelnuts

Additional equipment:

❚ 4-inch wooden toothpick

❚ Empty bottom of egg carton

Line a baking sheet pan with parchment paper.

Remove stems from strawberries. Using a paring knife, carefully cut a center piece out of the wide top of each berry.

Place berries, cut side up, in an empty egg container. Fill each berry cutout with Nutella. Refrigerate in the egg container while preparing chocolate.

Place chocolate in microwaveable container. Microwave on medium in 15-second intervals, stirring between, until melted.

Place hazelnuts in a small, shallow bowl. Remove berries from refrigerator. Working with one berry at a time, flip berry over. Insert a wooden pick into unstuffed tip of berry. Picking berry up by the pick, dip berry bottom (the area that was stuffed with Nutella) halfway up in chocolate. Roll chocolate portion in hazelnuts. Place berry, stuffed side down, on prepared pan. Continue with remaining berries. Refrigerate 30 minutes to harden chocolate.
