Super Bowl Sunday! And you know what that means — party time!

Even though our home team didn’t make it to the big game (let alone the playoffs), that doesn’t mean you still can’t have a good time gathering with friends to watch the commercials and Justin Timberlake during the halftime show (oh, and the game).

Football food is some of the best fare around. It’s usually comfort food and lots of cheese is involved. So even if you couldn’t care less about football, there’s something everyone loves about a tailgating menu.

The star of the show here is the slow cooker chicken taco chili. When you’re prepping for a party, your slow cooker is your best friend. You just dump everything in and go.

And once it’s done cooking and you place the slow cooker on the warm setting, the chili will stay at the perfect temperature for hours so guests can serve themselves whenever the mood strikes.

While you’re at it, make a chili bar by including bowls of shredded cheese, sour cream, green onion, tortilla chips and avocado. Using the same ingrediIt’s

ents, one could also make chicken chili nachos.

To serve alongside the chili I found the most delicious-looking recipe on Pinterest — creamy mushroom-stuffed garlic bread. The filling is a mixture of mushrooms, cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise and garlic. Stuffed into hollowed-out bread rolls, it’s the ultimate crowd pleaser.

Because every tailgating party needs a dip, I settled on a Southern pimiento cheese spread. The ingredients are simple: pimientos, cream cheese, mayonnaise, cheese and spices.

One thing that threw me was grated onion. Although I’ve seen diced onion in thousands of recipes, you don’t see grated onion too often. I kept wondering if this was really worth bringing out my hand grater (yet another thing to clean), but I forged ahead.

And I’m so glad I did. Because you’re getting some onion juice in with the solids, it packs a flavor punch in this dip. It’s like pimiento cheese 2.0. Not only is grating the onion worth the extra step, the dip wouldn’t be the same without it.

To accompany the pimento choose, I created a platter with whole-grain crackers, radishes, snow peas, red pepper strips and cucumber: a little something for everyone.

No matter who wins or loses today, everyone can agree on something — the awesomeness of this menu.
