Senior living facility proposed for Glendale

School sells property to raise sport facility funds

A new senior living and retail space may soon occupy some of Nicolet High School’s athletic fields.

The Glendale Common Council will hear a formal proposal Monday from two Milwaukee property development firms, ICAP Development and Matter Development, hoping to get approval for the development.

The project, which would include 145 senior living apartments and 22,000 square feet of retail space, is intended to serve the growing need for senior living facilities in the city, according to the development proposal.

The location would be at 6701 and 6789 N. Port Washington Road, overlooking I-43.

The 145 senior living apartments would be split between one- and twobedroom independent living and assisted living apartments, with 103 of the 145 apartments going to independent living and the other 42 to assisted living.

The development encompasses two parcels of land totaling just under six acres.

The entire development would cover roughly 246,000 square feet.

The location is ideal because of its high visibility, according to the project proposal.

ICAP agreed to buy the property in December, after the Nicolet School Board reauthorized the sale of the property in November.

Michael Ostermeyer, the attorney representing Nicolet in the property deal, said Nicolet High School is selling the property to raise funds to rebuild the school’s football, track and tennis facilities on the school’s campus.

Work on the facility is expected to begin late this year or early next year, and is anticipated to take about 15 months.
