Tucker returns to Badgers

Wisconsin all-time leading scorer Alando Tucker has returned to the school as the director of student-athlete engagement.

Wisconsin said the role is a new one in the athletic department.

Tucker returns to Madison 11 years after his final game with Badgers. He is the program’s career scoring leader with 2,217 points.

Tucker played profession­ally for 10 years, including three years in the NBA and stops at several leagues overseas.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Allazia Blockton scored 23 points and the Marquette women’s team rolled past host Xavier, 80-63, Friday night.

Natisha Hiedeman added 18 points for the Golden Eagles (16-8, 10-3 Big East).

HOCKEY

Maddie Rowe, Caitlin Schneider and Lauren Williams each had a goal and an assist as the second-ranked Wisconsin women’s team routed host Minnesota-Duluth, 5-0.

Goaltender Kristen Campbell had 15 saves for the Badgers (27-3-1-0, 18-2-1-0 WCHA). Her 10 shutouts are the most by an NCAA goaltender this season.

Admirals 5, IceHogs 3: Justin Kirkland had a hat trick and visiting Milwaukee turned back Rockford.

Frederick Gaudreau and Jimmy Oligny also lit the lamp for the Admirals.

AUTO RACING

Natalie Decker, in her first attempt at Daytona, won the pole for Saturday’s ARCA Lucas Oil 200.

The Eagle River rookie qualified with a top speed of 181.859 mph in her No .25 Vent uri ni Motor sports prepared N 29 Capital Partners Toyota.

Decker becomes the third female driver in history to win a pole for the ARCA race at Daytona; Patty Moise won back to back poles in 1989 and ’90. Erin Crocker won the pole in 2007.

TENNIS

Serena Williams won’t be playing in either of Saturday’s Fed Cup singles matches as she returns to competitiv­e tennis this week, five months after becoming a mother.

Williams will team up with Lauren Davis to face Lesley Kerkhove and Demi Schuurs in Sunday’s doubles match as the United States opens its Fed Cup title defense against the Netherland­s.

She hasn’t played an official match since winning the 2017 Australian Open. Williams later revealed she was pregnant during that tournament.

NBA

Atlanta Hawks forward DeAndre Bembry rejoined the team following his arrest for speeding on an Atlanta interstate.

Bembry posted bond following his arrest early Friday. He was clocked driving a purple Dodge Charger at 128 mph on Interstate 85 about 12:20 a.m.

Bembry has appeared in only 18 games this season and has not played since Dec. 22.

He had missed 33 games, including Friday night’s game against Cleveland, with injuries. Most recently, he has been held out with a left abductor strain.
