Madison man charged with 6th OWI offense

A Madison man was arrested Saturday for his sixth OWI offense, the Dane County Sheriff ’s Office said.

Christopher Stewart, 49, was stopped at 10:30 p.m. for driving 71 miles an hour in a 55 mile-perhour zone on U.S. Highway 12 near Rimrock Road, the department said in a news release.

Stewart was taken to the Dane County Jail, where he was found to have a blood-alcohol level of 0.18. In Wisconsin, a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 is considered evidence of intoxication.

Stewart was booked on a felony OWI charge, a probation hold and numerous other charges, the release said.
