Sauce can be the element that brings a dish together. Learn how to make classic sauces and match them to food and wine in a class Feb. 24 at Pastiche Bistro and Wine Bar in Brown Deer.

The demonstration class will be led by Pastiche chefowner Michael Engel. He’ll show how to make the basic sauces found in classical French cuisine. Participants also will learn which foods each sauce goes with and which wines best complement them. As part of the class, attendees will taste some sample dishes, and they can ask questions afterward. The cost is $35. To take part, make a reservation through the Brown Deer restaurant’s website, pastichebistro.com, and note that the reservation is for the class. Pastiche is at 4313 W. River Lane in Brown Deer.
