Beloit: Beloit International Film Festival. This festival Feb. 23-March 4 will feature shorts, documentaries and feature films, plus more than 100 filmmakers. Individual film tickets are $9 in advance or $10 at the door for adults and $5 for students. See beloitfilmfest.org.
Hayward: American Birkebeiner. North America’s biggest cross-country ski race returns to northern Wisconsin Feb. 2224. The main events, the skate 50K and classic 55K, kick off at 8:15 a.m. Feb. 24. The weekend also includes shorter and kids races. See birkie.com.
Middleton: Bockfest. Capital Brewery celebrates the tapping of its Blonde Doppelbock during this festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 24. There also will be food, live music and the annual Running of the Blondes 1K. Tickets are limited and are $10 in advance or $15 the day of the event. See capitalbrewery.com.
Minocqua: Loop Around the Lake. Ski, snowshoe or hike 5 kilometers around Lake Minocqua by candlelight beginning at 6 p.m. Feb. 24. Bonfires and food follow at the Thirsty Whale. Registration is $25 in advance and $35 the day of. See looparoundthelake.com.
Neillsville: Sweaty Yeti Winter Festival. Fat-tire bikers will take to the trails at Levis Mound for races Feb. 24 and winter camping throughout the weekend. Registration is $25. This festival Feb. 23-24 includes live bald eagle and raptor programs, exhibits and displays and outdoor viewing of bald eagles.
