MARGUERITE BACHHUBER

THE 20TH HONOREE TO THE PACKERS FAN HALL OF FAME!

-

Selected by the votes of fellow fans, honoree Marguerite Bachhuber of Green Bay, WI, will represent all Packers fans in the Fan Hall of Fame. Marguerite will receive game tickets to a Packers home game and a road trip to a 2018 Packers away game, a one year subscription to Packer Plus, and a $500 Packers Pro Shop gift card.

At 87, Marguerite Bachhuber, better known as Mugs, has proved her mettle as a lifelong rabid Packers fan. You'll always know which is her apartment in Woodside Manor, the assisted living facility where she's lived for 17 years, because there's a seasonal Packers shrine in her entry way! If it's a winning season and the Packers go to the playoffs, the Packers Christmas wreath is added, but nothing comes down. The lucky juju must stay intact!

Mugs and her husband, Ray, raised 8 children in small town Mayville, WI. Packers’ game days were sacred. They celebrated games with their friends and relatives. Her house was the hub for watching games. Mugs' brother got tickets every year for the Bishops Charity game. That formed the annual pilgrimage to Green Bay for a weekend of adoration. Nearly all the kids caught the Packers passion. Often, after a wild game, one or more of her 6 sons will call her on the phone to re-hash the game highlights. She might be hoarse from hollering, but she'll have strong opinions about the action! After the kids were grown and gone, Mugs and her husband were Winter Texans for many years, traveling back and forth from WI to TX. They always maintained their passion for the Packers. She collected Packers paraphernalia all her adult life, often at rummage sales. It's been used to decorate cars in TV ads during Packers season. It's been in breast cancer awareness videos. It's been used to dress up a big group of people at Woodside for a fun group portrait of Packers love! Beyond the typical hats and beads, she's got cereal boxes, high heel bottle openers, pennants, and much, much more! She loves the hunt and has a great eye for spotting the good stuff!

Mugs watches the games now with friends at Woodside. She ran the Packers pool there for 10 years. She wrote a parody about the Packers, and Woodside tenants sing "We Are Packer Backers" loudly and proudly on Friday afternoons during Happy Hour Singalongs. The lyrics are printed poster size and hang framed in the game room of her manor.

A framed share of Green Bay Packers stock graces Mugs' bedroom wall, along with other great photos of her in Packers gear. One photo is from a Green Bay Press-Gazette article. She's wearing her favorite sweatshirt with printing on both sides. On the front there's a pretty tree with the words, "In 6 days, God created the heavens and the earth." On the back there's a football helmet with the words, "On the 7th day, God watched Green Bay beat Chicago." When asked who submitted the photos to the newspaper, Mugs said, "I did!”
