Woman severely injured after walking into traffic
A 25-year-old woman suffered serious injuries late Friday after walking into traffic on W. Capitol Drive, one of four incidents that sent victims to local hospitals in a span of six hours, Milwaukee police said Saturday.
Four others were injured in non-fatal shootings late Friday and early Saturday, including one in which an unknown gunman fired several shots into a car.
The pedestrian was struck by two cars after she stepped into traffic in the 5900 block of W. Capitol Drive around 10:45 p.m. Friday, police said.
The drivers of both cars remained on the scene and were cooperative, police said, and the woman was taken to a hospital.
The first shooting was reported around 6:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of W. Nash St., where a 25-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound. The man refused to tell police what happened or where the shooting occurred.
Two hours later, a 40-year-old man was shot during a confrontation in the 5800 block of W. Silver Spring Dr.
Around 2 a.m., police were called to the 2500 block of W. Clybourn St., where they found a 32-year-old man who had been shot. He told police someone fired several gunshots into a vehicle in which he was a passenger.
An hour later, police responded to a shooting in the 1500 block of S. 3rd. St. The victim, a 39-year-old man, was shot in what may have been a robbery, police said.
