On the field: The Brewers, who hit into a triple play six days earlier against Cleveland, turned an around-the-horn triple play in the second inning against Colorado. With two on, Daniel Castro hit a sharp grounder to third baseman Hernán Pérez, who tagged the bag and fired a throw to second baseman Jonathan Villar, who relayed to first baseman Eric Thames in plenty of time. Right-hander Zach Davies, who had two triple plays turned behind him during the 2016 season, was on the mound again for one.

“He hit the perfect hard ground ball right to third base, where (Pérez) was playing,” said Davies, who allowed one run in 3 1/3 innings. “It just went 1-2-3. It was pretty fun to watch. I was laughing because that’s the third time I’ve been out there for it. For some reason, I guess that’s my deal, triple plays.” Catcher Jett Bandy, who entered the game batting .188 with no RBI, cracked a two-run homer, walked and singled in three trips to the plate.

“I think it was an important day for Jett,” manager Craig Counsell said. “Just confidence-wise, get some good swings. He had a nice day and it’s great to see that.”

Weather: Mostly sunny, breezy, 65 degrees.

Cactus juice: Counsell, a graduate of Whitefish Bay High School, noted that another school alum, Joe Sherburne, was a key player for UMBC when the Retrievers upset No. 1-ranked Virginia on Friday night, becoming the first 16th seed to do so, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. When asked if Sherburne might be asked to throw out a ceremonial first pitch this season before a home game, Counsell quipped, “Yeah, we’ve got plenty of spots for that. We’ve got like 320 spots for first pitches.”

Scoreboard: Brewers 4, Rockies 3. Record: 15-7-1. Sunday: Brewers vs. Dodgers (ss), 3:05 p.m. Milwaukee RHP Chase Anderson (0-0, 6.52) vs. Los Angeles LHP Manny Banuelos (0-1, 8.22). TV: FS Wisconsin. Radio: AM-620. Countdown: 11 days until the Brewers' season opener March 29 in San Diego.
