St. Norbert to play for title

Tanner Froese scored two goals and St. Norbert held off Colby, 4-3, in the NCAA Division III men’s hockey semifinals Friday night in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Green Knights goaltender T.J. Black finished with 39 saves.

St. Norbert (26-4-1) will face Salve Regina (225-2) in the title game at 6 p.m. Saturday.

In the other semifinal, Eric Udahl had two goals to lead Salve Regina to a 3-0 victory over UW-Stevens Point.

Goaltender Blake Wojtala made a whopping 54 saves for the Seahawks.

The Pointers finished the year with a record of 21-6-3.

BASEBALL

San Francisco Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner is hurt for the second straight year, breaking a bone in his pitching hand when hit by a line drive off the bat of Kansas City’s Whit Merrifield during a spring training game Friday.

The Giants said X-rays showed the 28-year-old had a broken bone on the outside of his left hand. He is expected to miss six to eight weeks.

Bumgarner, the 2014 World Series MVP, missed nearly three months last season after a dirt bike accident on April 20 during a day off in Colorado.

Wright suspended: Boston Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright accepted a 15-game suspension under Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy following his arrest on Dec. 8.

Wright, 33, said he regrets his actions that night and accepts full responsibi­lity for what happened.

MISCELLANE­OUS

H. Wayne Huizenga, a college dropout who built a business empire that included three profession­al sports franchises, Blockbuste­r Entertainm­ent and AutoNation, has died. He was 80.

Huizenga was founding owner of baseball’s Florida Marlins and the NHL Florida Panthers. He bought the NFL Miami Dolphins for $138 million in 1994.

The Marlins won the 1997 World Series, and the Panthers reached the Stanley Cup Final in 1996, but Huizenga’s beloved Dolphins never reached a Super Bowl while he owned the team.

HOCKEY

Bill Zito, the assistant general manager for the Columbus Blue Jackets, was selected as the general manager for the United States men’s national hockey team.

The Pittsburgh native succeeds in this job the late Jim Johannson, who died unexpected­ly in January on the eve of the Olympics. Zito was part of the management team for the 2015 IIHF World Hockey Championsh­ip.

Admirals 5, IceHogs 2: Mark McNeill scored two goals in the final period to lead Milwaukee to a victory over host Rockford.
