MOVIES
“All the Money in the World”: The film (like the FX series “Trust”) was inspired by the true story of the kidnapping of J. Paul Getty’s grandson, John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer), in 1973. The initial demand for $17 million in ransom money was ignored by Getty (Oscar nominee Christopher Plummer, no relation to Charlie) — who at the time was the richest man in the world – because he was certain paying would just trigger the kidnapping of his other grandchildren. Instead, Getty sent his chief of security, Fletcher Chase (Mark Wahlberg), to work with his daughter-in-law, Gail (Michelle Williams), to deal with the kidnapping.
“The Greatest Showman”: Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron star in an original big-screen musical drawn from the tale of showman P.T. Barnum. With Michelle Williams, Zendaya. Oscar nominee for best song for “This Is Me.”
“Phantom Thread”: Daniel Day-Lewis plays a designer in late 1950s London who finds that the most complicated creations are personal relationships in Paul Thomas Anderson’s dreamy drama. An Oscar winner for (what else?) costume design, and a nominee for best picture, actor (Day-Lewis) and supporting actor (Lesley Manville).
“Proud Mary”: A hit woman’s life is turned around when she meets a young boy whose path she crosses during a professional hit. With Taraji P. Henson.
“The Tribes of Palos Verdes”: The only way a teen can deal with family troubles is through surfing.

“Up in Smoke”: The Cheech & Chong stoner comedyclassic is being rereleased to mark the 40th anniversary.
“My Friend Dahmer”: Film is based on the 2012 graphic novel made by the cartoonist who was high school friends with Milwaukee serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, but is set during his coming of age (and darkness) in Ohio.
“Molly’s Game”: An Olympic hopeful becomes a successful high-stakes poker entrepreneur, then takes the fall for it. Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba star.
