McGregor triggers melee

-

Conor McGregor was involved in a backstage melee, and video footage appears to show the UFC star throwing a guard rail at a bus full of fighters on Saturday’s card.

McGregor crashed a news conference Thursday at Barclays Center. Video showed him with a group of people causing chaos as they took an elevator to the loading dock at the arena. He was shown tossing trash cans and causing trouble during his unannounced appearance in New York.

McGregor hasn’t fought for UFC since November 2016 and was stripped this week by UFC President

Dana White of the 155-pound championship he had never defended.

The fight status of Michael Chiesa was unclear after he was sent to the hospital with injuries sustained in McGregor’s attack.

The Bulldogs will face Michigan or Notre Dame on Saturday night. BASEBALL

Tim Tebow sure knows how to make an entrance.

Playing his first game in Class AA, Tebow hit a three-run homer on the first pitch he saw. The New York Mets minor-leaguer connected on a frigid night for the host Binghamton Rumble Ponies in the Eastern League against Portland.

Tebow, who was not on the New York Mets’ 40man major-league roster, was re-assigned to the Rumble Ponies after going 1 for 18 (.056) with 11 strikeouts in seven big league exhibition games.
