Winter nominees for JS prep awards named

- Mark Stewart

The guest list for the second-annual Milwaukee Journal Sentinel High School Sports Awards presented by Aurora Sports Health just got larger.

In January, we announced our player of the year nominees for the fall sports season. Now it’s time to reveal the top performers of the winter.

The winners will be announced during the award ceremony May 14 at the Pabst Theater in downtown Milwaukee. We’ll name area players of the year in every WIAA-sponsored sport at the red-carpet event as well as reveal the winners of our coach of the year, team of the year, overall boys and girls athlete of the year and other special awards.

Our guest speaker will be Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. He played his first six seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks.
