Tell us about the food legacy that your mom left you, your family

- Nancy Stohs TERRI MILLIGAN

Mother’s Day is a month away. You can honor your mom in the usual ways: fix her a meal, take her out to dinner, send a card and gift.

Or you can share with us the food legacy she left you, for a story to run the Wednesday before Mother’s Day.

In most homes, Mom is still the chief meal preparer. And whether she was an amazing cook or just OK, she no doubt prepared at least one special recipe that you’ve always loved and still make today.

Or you grew up cooking at her side and are grateful for the tips and techniques she passed along.

Or she modeled a philosophy about food, hospitality or healthy eating that you’ve adopted as an adult.

Whatever you have to thank your mother for in the realm of food, we’d love to hear about it — whether she’s 40 or 80, or she’s passed on, or you’re still living under her roof. (All ages are welcome to participate!)

If your story involves a recipe, please send that as well. Photos are also welcome.

Send to Nancy Stohs at nstoh s @journalsentinel.

com with “Mom Food Legacy” as the subject line. Be sure to include your name and daytime or cell phone number, the community you live in, and your mother’s name.

The deadline for receiving your submission is Monday, April 23. The story will publish in Food & Dining on May 9. Thank you!
