Trump’s right: It’s a witch hunt
I strongly disagree with Jennifer Teffer’s assessment of the current Robert Mueller investigation of President Donald Trump for supposed “Russia collusion” during the past presidential election (“Authoritarianism,” April 18).
Trump is not behaving as if he is above the law. Rather, he has behaved stoically in spite of the witch hunt against him. The 17-month investigation into Russia collusion has discovered nothing, because it was a false premise to begin with. Yet, the pro-Clinton hold-overs from the Obama administration in major institutions in Washington, D.C., have not relented in their efforts to destroy the president.
This includes such people as Robert Mueller, James Comey, and Rod Rosenstein just to name a few, who have run the investigation off the rails, looking high and low now for anything to “get Trump.” This is no longer about “Russia collusion” — it is about trying to remove a president, one that they do not like, from office.
In addition, the American people are being fed distortions and outright lies by the mainstream media. A media which does nothing to hide its own biases and disdain towards the president of the United States.
To use Teffer’s own words — “all this violates a most fundamental principle of our democracy.”
Exactly.
In a just world, Mueller’s investigation should have ended long ago. The American people spoke in November of 2016. What the liberal media and antiTrump “investigators” are doing is trying to overturn the results of an election.
That is the real assault on our democracy.
