Packers receiver Davis won’t face charges
GREEN BAY – No charges will be filed after Green Bay Packers receiver Trevor Davis was arrested earlier this month for making a bomb joke at Los Angeles International Airport, a Los Angeles City Attorney spokesman said Thursday.
Davis met with the Los Angeles City Attorney for an informal hearing shortly after his arrest, spokesman Frank Mateljan said. Instead of criminal charges, Mateljan said the office determined the best course of action was to advise Davis on how to better handle those situations in the future.
The city attorney’s office has up to one year to file charges, but the matter is considered closed. No future court dates are scheduled.

At the informal hearing, Mateljan said Davis was given a chance to explain his side of what happened. Davis was “advised on the law” and given suggestions as to how he could avoid future incidents, Mateljan said.
Davis, entering his third season with the Packers, was arrested April 8 when he quipped he might be carrying a bomb while checking into his flight. The joke was deemed a “criminal threat,” according to a police report.
Davis has been with the Packers since they opened their spring program last week.
Davis, a fifth-round draft choice in 2016 out of California, finished third in the NFL in punt returns last season with a 12.0 average and eighth in kickoff returns with a 22.8 average.
His most notable play was a winding, 65-yard punt return late in the fourth quarter at Cleveland that set up the tying touchdown in a game the Packers won in overtime.
Davis also served as a gunner on punt coverage, a role that figures to take on more significance next season with the departure of free agent Jeff Janis to the Browns.
Davis saw limited action as a receiver, playing only 103 snaps from scrimmage (more than half of which came in the final two games, after the Packers had been eliminated from postseason contention). He finished with five receptions for 70 yards.
