The Houston Texans’ star defensive end will pay funeral expenses for the 10 people killed in Friday morning’s mass shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas.
At least 10 people died and 10 more were injured after a 17-year-old suspect opened fire. Most of those killed also were students.
Watt, a Pewaukee native and former Wisconsin star, has been known for his humanitarian efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
SOFTBALL
Reagan Dykes’ three-run homer capped a sixrun fifth and host Alabama routed Wisconsin, 9-1, in five innings in an NCAA tournament game Saturday.
UW (29-22) faced Middle Tennessee or Oregon State late Saturday in the double-elimination Alabama Regional.
Division III: Ally Wiegand tossed a one-hitter and host Illinois Wesleyan beat UW-Whitewater, 3-0, in the deciding game of their best-of-three Super Regional series.
The Titans forced a third game by beating the Warhawks, 7-0, earlier. Whitewater finished the season at 29-13-1.
BASEBALL
Daytona Bryden socked a three-run homer and UW-Whitewater rolled past Texas-Tyler, 8-2, in an NCAA Division III Central Regional game in Sauget, Ill.
The Warhawks (33-6), who are unbeaten in the double-elimination regional, will face Rhodes (Tenn.) at 10 a.m. Sunday.
FOOTBALL
Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel is heading to the Canadian Football League, looking to salvage his football career after a turbulent and unsuccessful stay with the Cleveland Browns.
The quarterback signed with the Hamilton Tigercats, ending months of speculation on his possible path back to the game.
His last game came at the end of the 2015 season. He now comes to a team coached by June Jones, a former NFL and college coach.
Dallas receiver arrested: Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrance Williams was arrested on a charge of public intoxication after police responded to an accident involving his car and found Williams riding an electric bicycle on a road near his home.
Police in the Dallas suburb of Frisco said Williams’ Lamborghini left a roadway and struck a light pole near the team’s practice facility around 4:45 a.m. Saturday. Police say the driver had left the scene. Officers found Williams while investigating the crash.
Williams was released from jail on bond on the misdemeanor intoxication charge.
HOCKEY
Sweden strode into the final of the ice hockey world championship by crushing the United States, 6-0, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The defending champion set up a gold medal game on Sunday against Switzerland. The Swiss squad stunned title favorite Canada, 3-2, to reach the title game. Viktor Arvidsson led Sweden with two goals
and goaltender Anders Nielsen made 41 shots for the shutout.

Eden Hazard ensured Chelsea’s lackluster season ended on a high note by securing the FA Cup in a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the final.
