ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Elena Velasquez, Milwaukee Reagan:

The Huskies grabbed a share of the City Conference Williams Division lead with a 3-1 victory over previously undefeated Milwaukee King. Velasquez has impressive accuracy and during the match she twice set up goals with corner kicks directly to the goal line. Barring an upset Reagan is poised to gain at least a share of the title.

Honorable mention Bella Dettlaff, Pewaukee: The junior forward helped the Pirates cruise past West Allis Central on Tuesday and then recorded two goals and an assist in a 3-2 victory over Shorewood on Thursday.

Ashley Meinholz, Greenfield: The senior forward has missed a good chunk of the season due to an injury suffered in the second game, but she has made a positive impact since her return. She scored game-winning goals against Pius XI on May 8 and Wisconsin Lutheran on Thursday.

Senya Meurer, Waukesha West: The freshman forward set the tone for the Wolverines’ 4-1 victory over Wauwatosa East on Saturday with two goals and an assist in the first half to give her team a 3-0 lead.

Jackie Jares, Muskego: The Warriors defeated Grafton, 3-2, Saturday to win the Muskego Cup. Jares, a sophomore, accounted for the first two goals of the contest, an unassisted score at 38 minutes, 11 seconds and an assist to Emma

Pankiewicz less than a minute later.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Racine St. Catherine’s: The Angels wrapped up a nearly perfect run through the Metro Classic this season with a 3-0 victory over Racine Prairie on Wednesday. The victory allowed St. Catherine’s to seal its first league title since 2014 and complete run in which it shut out seven of the nine teams in the conference and allow just two goals to league teams overall.

Kettle Moraine at Arrowhead, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday: Arrowhead wraps up its Classic 8 slate with another matchup against a state-ranked team.

New Berlin Eisenhower at Greendale, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday: The last-two undefeated teams in the Woodland meet in the final league match of the season.

Brookfield Central vs. Whitefish Bay at UW-Milwaukee's Laura Moynihan Field,

7 p.m. Friday: The area’s top two teams meet in a preview of what could be a sectional final matchup in Division 2.
