Boerner Gardens will be aglow at night for the first time

For a look at some spectacular gardens at night, visit Boerner Botanical Gardens this summer to see its new night lighting system.

The Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens raised all the funds for the lighting project last year. With this new system, Boerner can hold more nighttime events such as evening garden walks and concerts in the gardens.

The lighting system will make its debut at an “In the Gardens” event from 5:30 to 10 p.m. June 15 at the gardens, located at 9400 Boerner Drive, Hales Corners.

Proceeds from the event will benefit a Children’s Plant Science and Environmental Education Program dedicated to reaching children of the Greater Milwaukee Area and surrounding communities.

The evening will feature themed cocktails, docentled garden walks, hors d’oeuvres and food stations, curated auction packages and opportunities to support the Friends’ youth and adult educational programs. After sunset, guests will be invited outside to watch the gardens light up around them for the first time, followed by an evening tour of the gardens led by lighting system designer Joel Reinders of Reinders Inc.

Tickets are $175 a person; sponsorships (which include admission) are available. For more information, see boernerbotanicalgardens.org, call (414) 525-5661 or e-mail info@fbbg.org,.
