The selling of health care
Once again Guy Boulton has appropriately named a problem without naming the cause, which is that America is the only nation on earth where health care is sold for profit (“Health care for a family tops $28,000,” June 4).
First by an out-of-control pharmaceutical industry with its flamboyant over-the-top advertising claims and egregious mark-ups. A close second are mega-healthcare corporations whose “not for profit” activities include creating extravagant empires and mini-monopolies headed by multimillion dollar administrators and endorsed by daily doses of seductive displays on television.
When is enough enough?
