FIVE TAKEAWAYS

-

CAIN LEAVES WITH GROIN TIGHTNESS: It’s been a tough series physically for Brewers centerfielder Lorenzo Cain, who left the game in the fourth inning with groin tightness. Cain exited early Thursday in the series opener with a hamstring cramp, was hit on the elbow by a pitch Friday and again behind the left shoulder in his first atbat Saturday.

BRAUN STARTS DAY ON BENCH: For the third consecutive game since having a cryotherapy injection in his right thumb, Ryan Braun was out of the lineup until replacing Cain in the fourth.

REMEMBERING DAVEY NELSON: Before the game, a private memorial service was held for Davey Nelson, the Brewers director of alumni and FS Wisconsin analyst who passed away earlier this season. The right-field corner, where FS Wisconsin has an analyst station, named “Nellie’s Corner” with a plaque installed in his memory. Brewers players and coaches have been wearing “Nellie” patches on their uniforms with the symbol of his favorite charity, the Open Arms Home for Children in South Africa.

ANOTHER REHAB START FOR DAVIES: Right-hander Zach Davies left to join Class AAA Colorado Springs for his second rehab start Sunday in Iowa. Davies is recovering from rotator cuff inflammation that put him on the DL for the second time this season.

YET ANOTHER DRAFT SIGNING: MLB.com reported that the Brewers signed 6th round pick Drew Rasmussen, a right-hander from Oregon State, for $135,000, below the recommended slot value of $251,700.
