View MKE opens Monday in Brewers Hill

- Carol Deptolla Milwaukee Journal Sentinel USA TODAY NETWORK - WISCONSIN VIEW MKE

View MKE, the restaurant moving into the former Wolf Peach location in Brewers Hill, will open Monday with a redecorated interior, shareable plates on the menu and weekend brunch.

Restaurant owners Carl and Kim Tomich announced the debut.

View MKE, at 1818 N. Hubbard St., now has 18-foot folding glass doors in the upper restaurant, the better to see the downtown skyline. The view from the restaurant's perch in Brewers Hill just north of downtown is considered one of the city's best.

The lower level has a rebuilt bar, booths and a mural.

View MKE, like Wolf Peach, will serve pizza in addition to composed plates, but it will be Milwaukeestyle thin crust instead of Neapolitan style. And, like Wolf Peach, the menu will give its plates international flavors.

The menu, from chef Zach Panoske, formerly of Harbor House, and sous chef Paris Dreibelbis, formerly of Ardent, includes snacks such as house potato chips ($4), adobo roasted peanuts ($5) and cheese and meat boards ($19 to $22).

The dinner menu is organized by meat, seafood and vegetable dishes. It has plates such as crisped pork belly with tamarind glaze, tomato, chile, puffed rice and taro chip ($14), lamb shoulder ragu with fettuccine ($15), steamed mussels flavored with piri piri, orange and fennel ($13), a daily fish special at market price and twice-baked eggplant with spiced tomato ($10).

Pizzas ($14 and $15) include three cheese and three mushroom, pimento cheese and kale, and sausage.

View MKE hours will be 5 to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday for dinner. Brunch will be served 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The restaurant takes reservations online. To call: (414) 374-8480. View MKE is on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
