HOSPITALITY: Cambria Hotel set to open downtown in 2019

Downtown Milwaukee’s newest hotel, a Cambria Hotel that is under development, will open in about a year, the operator announced Wednesday. The four-story, 132-room Cambria will be developed at 503-521 N. Plankinton Ave., according to city building permits. It will include 1,300 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center, indoor pool, courtyard and parking garage. Choice Hotels International Inc., which owns the Cambria brand, has signed an agreement with Integrated Plankinton Milwaukee LLC, an affiliate of Chicago-based Murphy Development Group, to develop the hotel. It is expected to open in the summer of 2019, according to the announcement.
