Majeski cruises to Slinger title

- Dave Kallmann

The way Ty Majeski dominated the 39th Slinger Nationals on Tuesday night, trophies from the Rattler 250 and Governor’s Cup and World Series of Asphalt and his four ARCA Midwest Tour titles just slid into a shadow. But July 10, 2018, will always hold a special place.

“This one’s up there just because it’s home,” said Majeski, a Seymour native. “It’s our turf.

Majeski drove through the field from his 12th starting spot, grabbed the lead from Brad Mueller on a restart on the 70th laps and then easily survived three restarts in the final 25 laps.

Dennis Prunty, the 2015 Nationals winner, finished second, 2.8 seconds behind, and Mueller was third.

Defending winner Bubba Pollard finished ninth after spinning with reigning track champion Gary

Lamonte with 14 laps to go while they raced for third. Lamont was 10th.

Erik Jones, the most recent winner in the NASCAR Cup Series, dropped out with an engine failure after 66 laps.
