Sagan wins Tour stage
Peter Sagan won his third stage of this Tour de France, while Geraint Thomas kept the overall lead over teammate Chris Froome on Friday.
Sagan won a sprint finish to claim Stage 13, a 105mile leg from Bourg d’Oisans to Valence in less than four hours.
After overzealous fans marred Thomas’ win on Thursday atop the Alpe d’Huez peak, the otherwise complete calm of Friday’s leg was briefly disturbed by a man on the roadside who tossed a smoke bomb into the center of the peloton as it passed by with 10 miles left.
Besides spitting out yellow smoke, the bomb appeared to do no harm.
COLLEGE ATHLETICS
More than 100 former students have provided firsthand accounts of sexual misconduct by the now-dead Ohio State University team physician at the center of an ongoing investigation, the university said on Friday.
Investigators are reviewing allegations against Richard Strauss involving male athletes from 14 sports. The allegations range from 1979-’97, during most of Strauss’ two decades on the faculty and medical staff. Those who say they’ve been interviewed include wrestlers who say they were groped during physicals.
The coach then, Russ Hellickson, has said he would have reported any abuse if he had been aware of it. Hellickson is a former Wisconsin star.
Strauss killed himself in 2005. His relatives have said they were shocked by sexual abuse allegations against him.

Brittany Lincicome was forced to wait to resume her bid to make the cut in a PGA Tour event.
Overnight storms delayed the start of the second round in the Barbasol Championship in Nicholasville, Ky., and an afternoon thunderstorm suspended competition for good. The round will resume Saturday morning with much of the field still to play.
Lincicome was near the bottom of the field after opening with a 6-over 78.
Troy Merritt had the clubhouse lead at 15 under, following an opening 62 with a 67.
NFL
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler has been suspended without pay for the season opener against the New York Giants for attacking a man in a parking lot a year ago.
Fowler was arrested last July after confronting a man who made a comment about his driving in a parking lot. Authorities say Fowler exchanged words with the man before hitting him. He was sentenced in March to a year of probation and 75 hours of community service.
