Bucks host Bulls in preseason opener

- Matt Velazquez

The Milwaukee Bucks celebrated the “substantial completion” of Fiserv Forum on Tuesday and then announced the team’s first preseason games in the new arena Tuesday.

The Bucks will take the court at Fiserv Forum for the first time at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 for a game against the Chicago Bulls. That game, in addition to being against a regional rival, will include the return of Jabari Parker, who went to Chicago this summer in free agency.

Milwaukee will continue its preseason slate with a pair of road games in quick succession. They will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 7 and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 9.

The game against the Timberwolves does not yet have an announced location. In recent years, the Timberwolves have played at least one preseason game outside of Minnesota and could be planning to do something similar with the game against the Bucks.

The Bucks and Thunder will play at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.

The Bucks will conclude the preseason against the Timberwolves on Oct. 12 with the 42nd MACC Fund Game. Since the inaugural event in 1977, the game has raised more than $1.5 million to support cancer and blood disorders research. Tickets for both Fiserv Forum games will go on sale Monday and can be purchased at www.bucks.com or by calling 1-877-4NBA-TIX.

Signings: The Bucks’ roster officially gained some new members as the team announced the signings Jaylen Morris, Travis Trice and Brandon McCoy.

Morris signed a two-way contract, joining fellow point guard Trevon Duval as Milwaukee’s set of two-way players entering the season.

Trice and McCoy, who each played for Milwaukee’s summer league team, will stick with the Bucks on training camp deals.

Morris, 22, went undrafted in 2017 out of Division II Molloy College. He spent most of the 2017-’18 season with the Erie BayHawks, the G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, before being called up by the Hawks in February. He spent the final month and a half of the season with Atlanta, appearing in six games.

Trice, 25, is a two-year veteran of Milwaukee’s summer league team, starting five games in Las Vegas this summer while averaging 8.8 points, 4.0 assists and 3.2 rebounds. The former Michigan State point guard spent the past two seasons playing in New Zealand and Australia.

McCoy, 20, was the Mountain West freshman of the year in his lone collegiate season at UNLV after averaging 16.9 points and 10.3 rebounds. A 6foot-11 center, McCoy was used sparingly during summer league, appearing in just two games for the Bucks.
