Edwards, Erdmann return to practice
MADISON – Wisconsin held its 11th practice of preseason camp Tuesday, on the grass field north of Camp Randall Stadium.
What went right
Inside linebacker T.J. Edwards (hamstring) and offensive lineman Jason Erdmann (knee), who can play guard or center, returned to practice for the first time since suffering injuries. Both were limited but their return bolstered the depth.
Edwards had been out since Aug. 4. Erdmann appeared to suffer a serious injury Thursday, the first day UW practiced in full pads. He was in full pads Tuesday, however, with a brace on his right knee.
Also back but limited was cornerback Madison Cone (knee).
What went wrong
Wide receiver A.J. Taylor suffered a left-leg injury near the end of practice during a drill that did not include live tackling.
Taylor caught a quick pass from quarterback Alex Hornibrook in a two-minute drill and was accidentally dragged to the ground from behind by cornerback Faion Hicks.
Hicks appeared to roll up the back of Taylor’s legs. Taylor limped off the field for treatment.
Though the injury didn’t appear serious it won’t be a surprise if Taylor is held out of practice Wednesday.
From the infirmary
Several players were added to the team’s injury report.
Right guard Beau Benzschawel (arm), left tackle Jon Dietzen (leg) and reserve offensive lineman David Moorman (knee/leg) were held out.
Kicker Rafael Gaglianone (back/ leg) and tight end Zander Neuville (hamstring) remain out.
Right tackle David Edwards left practice after suffering what appeared to be a minor right-arm injury.
