Canadian woman identified as victim in Madison crash

A 20-year-old Canadian woman was identified by the Dane County medical examiner as the passenger who died in a crash Friday morning on I-39 in Madison.

Tatiana Blackburn of Cambridge, Ontario, was killed when the vehicle she was in hit a pickup truck and was then broadsided by a delivery truck. The crash was reported around 5:20 a.m. Friday.

Preliminar­y autopsy results confirm Blackburn was killed as a result of crash injuries, but the incident remains under investigat­ion.

Crash in Chester leaves driver seriously injured

A crash Saturday on Highway 151 at Oakwood Road in the Town of Chester resulted in serious injuries for the driver of a Saturn Vue.

The Saturn attempted to cross the highway about 4 a.m. Saturday and was struck by a Chrysler 300 traveling northbound, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office reported after an initial investigat­ion. The driver and passenger in the Chrysler suffered minor injuries. The Saturn driver was transporte­d to Waupun Hospital.

The crash remains under investigat­ion.

Milwaukee firefighte­rs battle blaze at north-side Family Dollar

Milwaukee firefighte­rs responded to a fire Saturday afternoon at the Family Dollar store at 2601 W. Hampton Ave., according to the Milwaukee Fire Department.

Around 7:05 p.m., the fire department said the fire was stabilized but firefighte­rs were still tending to the blaze.

The department has yet to note the cause of the fire but several media reports say a person was taken into custody by Milwaukee police.
