OUT OF THE KITCHEN

- FOOD AND DRINK EVENTS — Carol Deptolla

The annual food-filled Tent Event by Palmer’s Steakhouse in Hartland has more at stake this year as it raises money to fight cystic fibrosis: the opportunity to fund a professorship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The event is Sunday under the big white tent outside Palmer’s Steakhouse, 122 E. Capitol Drive in Hartland. The buffet, available from 1 to 6 p.m., includes steak, chicken, ribs, side dishes and dessert. Beer, wine and soda are included in the price of admission and will be poured at the bar from 1 to 7 p.m. Live music is from 1 to 5 p.m., and the live auction is from 5 to 7 p.m. with Milwaukee Bucks sportscaster Jim Paschke. A silent auction, games and raffles take place throughout the event.

Restaurant owners Jerry and Marie Arenas, whose son, Tony, was born with cystic fibrosis, have raised more than $2 million for research since 1985. If they can raise $500,000 in five years, a donor will match the amount to endow the Anthony J. Arenas professorship for transplant research at UW Health, according to Jerry Arenas. Also benefiting from the fundraiser will be the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Donate Life Wisconsin and the UW Organ and Tissue Donation program.

Tickets are $30 in advance and are available by calling (262) 369-3939 or stopping in at the restaurant. They’re $40 the day of the event.
