Frazier, Muhammad, Wood join Bucks for camp

The Milwaukee Bucks announced their training-camp roster Saturday, with three notable names joining the group for preseason practices, which begin Tuesday.

NBA veterans Tim Frazier and Shabazz Muhammad along with summer-league star Christian Wood fill out Milwaukee’s 20-man roster, which includes 14 players on guaranteed contracts, Tyler Zeller on a non-guaranteed deal and Trevon Duval and Jaylen Morris on two-way contracts.

The three free-agent additions are hardly a surprise. Muhammad and Wood, each of whom have ties to the Bucks already, have been expected to participate in Bucks training camp for more than a month. Muhammad closed out last season with the Bucks and was a solid scoring option off the bench. Wood played for Milwaukee’s summer-league squad, dominating the competition on the way to a firstteam all-summer league nod.

Frazier, a four-year NBA veteran who spent last season with the Washington Wizards, was with many Bucks players at last week’s performance by Kevin Hart at Fiserv Forum and was tied to the team by multiple reports over the past few days.

A 6-foot-1 point guard, Frazier is joining his fifth team in five seasons. In 186 games, he has averaged 5.2 points and 4.0 assists. Last season, he logged 59 appearances for the Wizards, contributing 3.0 points and 3.3 assists in 14.2 minutes per game.

Bucks general manager Jon Horst and coach Mike Budenholzer will be tasked with evaluating the trio of Frazier, Muhammad and Wood, along with Zeller, to see if any of them provides the best fit for Milwaukee’s 15th and final roster spot for the 2018-’19 season.

The Bucks will hold their first day of training camp Tuesday at the Sports Science Center. Milwaukee’s first preseason game is scheduled for Oct. 3 at Fiserv Forum against the Chicago Bulls.
