Stout passes test behind Borgerding

- Special to the Journal Sentinel

Sean Borgerding threw three of his four touchdown passes in the second half Saturday afternoon to lead UWStout to a 49-24 victory over Cal Lutheran in Menomonie.

Borgerding finished 10 of 13 passing for 273 yards for the Blugolds (2-1) with Levy Hamer reeling in four of those passes for 143 yards and two scores.

Rayshawn Graham paced Stout’s ground attack with 172 yards in 20 carries with two touchdowns against the Kingsmen (1-2).

St. Thomas 49, UW-Eau Claire 0: The Blugolds were outgained, 537-131, as they were trampled by the Tommies in St. Paul, Minn.

Brian Kulaga was the lone bright spot for Eau Claire on offense with 61 yards on 15 carries.

Cornell 28, Beloit 17: The Rams (2-1) scored three touchdowns in the second halftime while shutting out the host Buccaneers (1-2) over that span in Beloit.

St. Norbert 91, Grinnell 0: Just about everyone got involed for the Green Knights (2-1) in their laugher over the Pioneers (1-2) as they scored touchdowns six times on the ground, twice through the air, three times on fumble returns, once on an interception return and once on a blocked punt in De Pere.

Matt Gurgone had a fumble return and interception return for touchdowns.

Lake Forest 35, Lawrence 34: Alex Adams’ 8-yard touchdown run with 18 seconds remaining lifted the Foresters (2-1) over the visiting Vikings (2-1).

Lawrence had taken the lead with 1:02 left in the game on D’Andre Weaver’s 4-yard run.

Lake Forest, though, need only six plays to produce the winning score with the big blow being a 51-yard pass from Jagan Cleary to John Rall for 51 yards a play before Adams’ winning scamper.

Ripon 28, Knox 3: Julian Patton threw for a pair of touchdowns in the first half to get the Red Hawks (2-1) rolling against the Prairie Fire (0-3)

Cormac Madigan paced a balanced ground attack for Ripon by churning out 93 yards on nine carries with a touchdown.

Carroll 16, Elmhurst 14: Parker Zitzke’s 13-yard touchdown reception with 6 seconds remaining sent the visiting Pioneers (2-1, 1-1 CCIW) home a winner against the Bluejays (1-2, 0-2).

Elmhurst had taken the lead with 4:22 left a two-play, 7-yard drive set up by a 51-yard interception return. But Carroll was able to engineer a 17-play 73-yard touchdown, aided by a roughing the punter penalty on the Bluejays, to score the winning touchdown.

Washington (Mo.) 51, Carthage 31: The Red Men (1-2) scored the first touchdown of the game, but the Bears (2-1) scored the next 25 points, all in the first quarter, to take control in St. Louis.
