McCoy hopes to play vs. Packers

-

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy vows he’s playing at Green Bay on Sunday after missing one game with a rib cartilage injury.

McCoy made the announcement after saying he was able to run at full speed during practice Wednesday.

McCoy has been sidelined since Bills center Ryan Groy fell on the left side of McCoy’s chest in the third quarter of Buffalo’s 31-20 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 16.

Coach Sean McDermott referred to McCoy as being day to day. The Bills’ injury report listed McCoy as practicing on a limited basis.

Backup running back Marcus Murphy was limited in practice with a rib injury, and starting safety Micah Hyde, a former Packers player, was added to the report with an injury to his right toe.

Tight end Charles Clay also made the list with injuries to his shoulder and hip.

The Bills are 1-2, and coming off a 27-6 win at Minnesota on Sunday.

Bosa eyes return: Joey Bosa remains sidelined with a foot injury but the Los Angeles Chargers defensive end is hopeful he can return in early November.

Bosa addressed his injury for the first time as the Chargers (1-2) began preparations for Sunday’s matchup against San Francisco (1-2).

“There is a little instability in the tendon, but there’s a good chance I won’t have surgery,” Bosa said. “I’m trying to be as safe as possible. If I try to rush back now it wouldn’t be good.”

Bosa has a bone bruise to his left foot. He first injured it during training camp on Aug. 7 and didn’t play in any of the four preseason games. Bosa acknowledged he should have been cautious for another week or two instead of trying to rush back for the regularseason opener against Kansas City. He reinjured the foot on Sept. 5 and has been sidelined since then.

After Bosa re-aggravated the injury, he visited Robert Anderson, who is a foot specialist based in Green Bay. Bosa’s foot was put in a cast for two weeks and he had it taken off earlier this week.

Now that he is back in a walking boot, Bosa is hoping to resume running in a couple weeks. His latest goal – provided there are no setbacks – is to return for the final nine games of the season. That would be Nov. 4 at Seattle and follows the Chargers’ bye week.

Good news: Houston Texans safety Andre Hal’s Hodgkin lymphoma is in remission.

Hal was diagnosed with the disease in May and immediately began treatment. He received the news of his remission on Sept. 18. He chose not to undergo chemotherapy, instead opting for a less aggressive form of treatment with hopes of returning to the field this season.

Along with his medical treatment he also used non-traditional forms of treatment such as acupuncture to aid in his healing efforts.

He says: “I just made sure that I did everything I could to beat this.”
