The Greyhounds are back at state for the first time since taking second in Division 2 in 2015. The team’s top two runners, Bella Lozier and Annika Elliott, are freshmen.

Waukesha West

The Wolverines could push for their third straight top-five finish. Seniors Brooke Lytle, Allyssa Reeves and Brooke Studnicki and junior Kaya Kuokkanen were also part of the 2016 and '17 teams.

Runners to watch

Zoe Goodmanson, sr., Pewaukee: The four-time Woodland champion is also a four-time state qualifier. Her best performance was a 19th in Division 1 last year, but her highest finish was 17th as a freshman in Division 2.

Brittany Helm, jr., Muskego: Helm won titles at the Muskego Invitational and Racine Case’s Eagle Invitational before taking third at the Classic 8 and sectional meets.

Kate Jochims, sr., Muskego: She missed most of the season due to injury but won titles at the Classic 8 and sectional meets.

Brooke Lytle, sr., Waukesha West: The four-time qualifier took 22nd last year. Bella Lozier, fr., Shorewood: The sectional champion and Woodland Conference runner-up has the potential for a high finish in Division 2.

Isabela Ross, fr., Oak Creek: The talented newcomer won the Southeast Conference title by a comfortable margin.

Isabel Seay, sr., Sussex Hamilton: Her season has been capped with back-toback victories at the Greater Metro Conference and sectional meets.

Kate Sperka, soph., Muskego: Like Jochims, Sperka, the reigning area runner of the year, finished second at state last season.

Kylee Wunschel, sr., Menomonee Falls: A four-time qualifier, Wunschel had four top-three finishes before breaking through and winning the sectional last week.
