Individual: Division 1, Drew Bosley, Homestead; Division 2, Kavanaugh FitzPatrick, Lakeland; Division 3 – David Vannucchi, Luther.
Teams to watch East Troy
Led by seniors Henry Chapman and Nathan Fox, the Trojans have been ranked No. 1 in the Division 2 state poll all season. Including Chapman’s previous years at Arrowhead, he, Fox and juniors Tommy Larson and Calvin Collins will be making their third straight state appearances.
Germantown
The Warhawks, who are making their second appearance in three seasons, could beat their all-time best finish of eighth in 2008. Ranked fifth in the state, four of their five runners finished below 17 minutes at the sectional.
Oconomowoc
The Raccoons are making their first state appearance since 1982. The Classic 8 champions won the sectional title by placing junior Alex Vance (second, 16:18), senior Michael Kluz (fifth, 16:41) and senior Miles Mulder (eight, 17:01) among the top 10.
Runners to watch
Drew Bosley, sr., Homestead: The Northern Arizona recruit is trying to become the first area runner to defend his title since Kenosha St. Joseph’s Zach McFall in 2005. Before winning, he took second as a sophomore and seventh as a freshman.
Henry Chapman, sr., East Troy: A two-time qualifier in Division 1 at Arrowhead, Chapman has won Rock Valley Conference and sectional titles.
Elijah DeVries, sr., Arrowhead: DeVries returns to the D1 state meet as a two-time champion of the Classic 8.
Lucas Florsheim, jr., Shorewood: The two-time qualifier won the sectional with a time (16:22.5) that would have taken first at every other Division 2 sectional.
Nathan Fox, East Troy: The senior finished 20th last season and is the No. 4 returner in the field.
Nick Holmes, jr., Nicolet: The North Shore runner-up to Bosley, Holmes won the Whitefish Bay Invitational and Cudahy Purgold Invitational this season.
Alex Mielke, sr., Lake Country Lutheran: The Midwest Classic champion took 13th last year in Division 3 and 17th as a sophomore.
Ben Schnoor, jr., Germantown: The two-time Greater Metro Conference champion is the area’s No. 2 returner in Division 1.
Aiden Sodemann, sr., South Milwaukee: Sodemann won the Woodland Conference title and sectional crown.
Alex Vance, jr., Oconomowoc: Vance, 32nd at state last year, posted second-place finishes at the Classic 8 and sectional meets.
