PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Offense
Sam Mikulak, Waukesha West:
The Wolverines beat two higher seeds in the playoffs to reach the Division 2 quarterfinals thanks, in part, to big games from their senior running back. Mikulak carried 30 times for 207 yards and scored a 7-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter that all but sealed a 31-28 victory over Southern Lakes champion Waterford on Friday. That performance followed a 235-yards, 28-carry performance in a 41-26 win over Wilmot in the first round.
HONORABLE MENTION
Darios Crawley-Reid:
The senior running back surpassed 2,000 yards for the second straight season during a monster performance Friday. He finished with 277 yards in 31 carries, an 8.9-yard average, in a 38-35 victory at Kiel. The effort raised his season total to 2,227 yards and pushed his career total to 5,186.
AJ Makinen, Muskego:
The senior quarterback was almost perfect in a 56-20 victory over Kettle Moraine on Friday, completing six of seven passes for 143 yards and four touchdowns.
Defense
Mark Shields, New Berlin Eisenhower: The Lions senior has had plenty of big games, but his work during the team's 24-7 victory over Grafton on Friday may have been the best of the bunch. He lined up at end, tackle and linebacker as well as the team’s kick and punt coverage teams against the Black Hawks. His totals for the night were 12 tackles with 21⁄2 sacks and one pass batted down.
HONORABLE MENTION
Jager Clark, Racine Horlick:
The senior had an all-around night Friday that could have landed him on our list for offense or defense. We chose defense for his 12 tackles, seven solo, in the Rebels’ 18-13 victory over Oak Creek. He coupled that effort with 179 allpurpose awards.
