The Bulldogs defeated third-ranked Nicolet in the sectional semifinal and top-ranked Whitefish Bay, the three-time defending champion, in the sectional final. Junior forward Willy Kornetzke, a returning all-state player, and senior midfielder Ian Nelson who was part of the 2015 state runner-up, are the team’s go-to players.

The Vikings defeated eighthrank­ed Green Bay Southwest in the sectional final in order to qualify for the first time. Caleb Blair.

The Popes return to state for the first time since 2000. They ended the season in second in the Woodland and ranked No. 2 in the division behind New Berlin West. Senior Ivan Cuellar is the team’s leading scorer.

Junior midfielder Clayton Lautenschl­aeger, the team’s secondlead­ing point leader, earned all-state honorable mention last season.

The Warriors finished second in the Middle Border Conference to Baldwin-Woodville. Two of the team’s ties came to the Blackhawks.

Before reaching state for the first time, the Chargers bounced back from a 2-4-1 start that included a 4-2 loss to state qualifier University School. Senior Jake Shemenske is the high scorer on a team that had four players with more than 30 points heading into the sectional.

The Clippers upset topranked Kohler in a shootout in the sectional semifinal and knocked off fifthranke­d Howards Grove in the sectional final to qualify for the seventh time in nine seasons.

The second-ranked Wildcats defeated No. 8 Shoreland Lutheran, 4-2, in overtime in the sectional semifinals and then shut out fourth-ranked Racine St. Catherine’s in the final. The team gets most of its offense from seniors Matias Dermond and Sam Mackey and sophomore Donovan Jones.
