West Allis man charged in Big Bend road-rage incident

-

A West Allis man was charged with disorderly conduct involving use of a dangerous weapon in an apparent road-rage incident that happened in Big Bend.

Jiovannie Candelaria Gonzalez, 61, was charged Nov. 14 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with pointing a gun at the other driver. Candelaria Gonzalez said that he got the gun out for protection but denies pointing it at the other driver.

According to the complaint:

The incident began about 8:35 a.m. Aug. 30 on Clark Road, where it narrows from two lanes to one. The driver of a pickup truck told police a tow truck driven by the defendant almost sideswiped his vehicle. The tow truck then tailgated him until he pulled into a store parking lot.

The pickup driver said he got out and had words with Candelaria Gonzalez, who was still in his tow truck. Then Candelaria Gonzalez pointed a gun at the pickup driver’s head. The pickup driver said he went back to his truck to get his phone and the tow truck drove off.

Candelaria Gonzalez told police he took out the gun because he felt threatened.

He has a valid permit to carry a concealed weapon.

The maximum sentence for the class B misdemeanor is a $1,000 fine and 90 days in jail.

He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Monday.
