Black Friday, buying and beer
Between Amazon and those crazy, wee-hours Thanksgiving Day shopping explosions, is taking on a different flavor.
Some Milwaukee-area shopping conglomerations still carry the torch: For example, numerous shops at
20111 W. Blue Mound Road, have Black Friday deals
and 95 N. Moorland Road, is hosting its own Black Friday Bash, with deals and giveaways starting at 6 a.m.

But nearly a dozen area craft breweries and stores are helping turn the day after Thanksgiving into a beer holiday, with special beer releases and other activities. The brewery that started the tradition in Milwaukee, 1872 N. Commerce St., starts selling at 8 a.m. Friday, with its 2018 Black Friday brew and Vintage, a barrel-aged blend of its Black Friday beers from 2015 through 2017. Saturday is Small Business Saturday, during which many small shops and retail outlets offer special deals to remind you to think outside the bigbox retailer when you’re shopping for the holidays. MSO at the movies, at the Riverside
Two very different movies get the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra treatment:

Steven Spielberg’s dinosaurs-among-us adventure story got a huge boost from the brilliant score by his frequent collaborator, John Williams. You can hear for yourself how good the music is when the MSO plays the score with the movie at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Riverside. Tickets are $21.25 to $86.25. Info:
