Hagedorn far out-raises Neubauer

Supreme Court campaigns release financial reports

MADISON - Brian Hagedorn outraised Lisa Neubauer in January in the race for state Supreme Court, but Neubauer has far more money in the bank, campaign finance reports released Thursday showed.

Hagedorn raised nearly $237,000 and had about $429,000 on hand as of Feb. 4, his report showed.

Neubauer took in about $174,000 and had about $716,000 in the bank, according

to her report. Last year, Neubauer put $250,000 of her own money into the race, helping her bolster her overall numbers.

Hagedorn has won the backing of conservatives and Neubauer has the support of liberals.

“Momentum for our campaign continues to build as Wisconsin voters want a justice who will keep politics out of the courtroom and uphold the rule of law,” Hagedorn said in a statement.

Neubauer’s campaign manager, Tyler Hendricks, in a statement said: “We are seeing record levels of support across the board, including endorsements from more than 320 current and former judges, and a bipartisan group of 50 district attorneys and 25 sheriffs.”

Both sit on the Waukesha-based District 2 Court of Appeals and are seeking to replace retiring liberal Justice Shirley Abrahamson.

The April 2 election will determine whether conservatives maintain their 4-3 majority or expand it to 5-2.
