“He’s not necessarily one of the biggest fans of my music. He’s proud of me and he loves that I love what I do but ... it’s a touchy subject.”

As beloved as Dolly Parton is, her music isn’t for everyone — and that includes her own husband, Carl Dean.

On Monday, Parton told “Good Morning Britain” host Kate Garraway that although they’ve been married nearly 53 years, Dean isn’t a huge fan of her songs and has seen her perform live only a few times.

“He’s not necessarily one of the biggest fans of my music,” she said. “He’s proud of me and he loves that I love what I do but ... it’s a touchy subject. I’m like his little girl and he worries about that.”

Despite just being honored at the 2019 Grammy Awards and as the MusiCares 2019 Person of the Year, Parton revealed that Dean would just as soon listen to rock music or bluegrass rather than “9 to 5” or “Jolene.”

“He likes hard rock, he likes Led Zeppelin and bluegrass music, so my music is somewhere in between,” she said. “He doesn’t dislike it, but he doesn’t go out of his way to play my records, let’s put it that way.”

Parton was in London for the premiere of “9 to 5 The Musical,” which began a limited run on London’s West End Sunday night.

So what’s the secret to the couple’s longevity, the “Good Morning Britain” hosts wondered?

“The fact that we like each other, we respect each other, we’ve always had a good time,” Parton answered. “He’s crazy and I’m crazy. We laugh a lot and I think that’s the healthiest and most precious part of our relationship.”
