Colts’ Luck out of preseason

-

The Indianapolis Colts believe lingering pain in Andrew Luck’s lower left leg will likely force their starting quarterback to miss the rest of the preseason.

They’re still unsure about his availability for the Sept. 8 season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard said Tuesday additional testing revealed Luck appears to be suffering from an injury near the front of his ankle, something his previously diagnosed strained left calf might have exacerbated.

The injury kept Luck out of all of the team’s offseason workouts and all but three training camp practices. He still has not participated in full team drills.

Tate blames doctor: New York Giants wide receiver Golden Tate III is considering taking legal action against the doctor who prescribed a fertility drug that led to his four-game suspension at the start of the season.

The suspension will cost Tate $1.2 million in salary. He did not identify the doctor.

Tate said he never hesitated to take a prescribed fertility drug, which he identified as clomifene, because the doctor told him he had given it to other NFL players and it was not banned. He said he found out less than a month later it was.

Stills, Dolphins owner at odds: Miami Dolphins receiver Kenny Stills says he and team owner Stephen Ross have agreed to disagree.

Last week Stills objected to Ross hosting a fundraiser for President Donald Trump, and said there was a contradiction in the Dolphins owner supporting both the president and racial equality. Following a team practice Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Stills said he recently spoke with Ross about the matter.

“I have my opinion, and he has his,” Stills said. “Our conversation was short. We agreed to disagree, and we both said that there weren’t any hard feelings, and our focus was on trying to win games this year.”

Stills earlier noted Ross is the founder of RISE, a nonprofit that strives to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations.
