West MKE getting a Jackson’s Blue Ribbon Pub

- Carol Deptolla

A Jackson’s Blue Ribbon Pub will open in spring in West Milwaukee, about a mile from Miller Park.

The bar will open at 1675 S. 44th St. That’s the former site of ParkWay Pub, which closed in December.

Dan Zierath, who also owns the Jackson’s in Wauwatosa, said he expects the pub will draw people attending Milwaukee Brewers games at Miller Park.

“We’re ordering two shuttles for that location” on South 44th to ferry customers to and from games, he said. “I expect we’re going to do heavy shuttling, just as we do at our Wauwatosa location.”

The menu will be similar to the other Jackson’s Blue Ribbon, focusing on burgers, wings and cheese curds. The bar will have 12 draft lines.

The building at South 44th and West Mitchell streets is being extensively remodeled before it reopens. Zierath hopes it will be ready by mid-March, to work out any kinks before opening day on March 26.

Garage doors will be installed at the front of the building, and Zierath will seek approval from the Village of West Milwaukee to build a patio behind the building, with access through a garage door in back.

The building already has been gutted, and a prep kitchen will be installed in the basement.

“Everything will be brand new,” said Zierath, whose brother, Mark, owns the Jackson’s Blue Ribbon Pub downtown.

Dan Zierath’s Zierath Restaurant Group also owns the Thirsty Duck bar and mini bowling in Wauwatosa and Sussex, as well as Zisters brunch restaurant in Elm Grove.
