Drexel Building plans showroom, warehouse at industrial park

- Tom Daykin

Drexel Building Supply Inc. is planning to develop a large showroom and distribution center in the New Berlin Industrial Park.

The new development, with seven buildings totaling about 128,000 square feet, is being proposed for a vacant 92acre parcel at 16778 W. Coffee Road, according to plans filed with the city.

The proposal includes a two-story, 24,900-square-foot office and show

room.

The other one-story buildings, used for storing and distributing building materials, would range from 5,300 square feet to 56,400 square feet, according to the proposal.

The New Berlin development will replace the company’s Brookfield facility, at 19355 W. Blue Mound Road, which it has outgrown, said Nate Sippel, operations leader.

The new development will allow Drexel Building Supply to expand its product categories, Sippel said Monday.

The project’s use, site and architectural approval application will be reviewed at Thursday’s Community Development Authority meeting.

The company plans to have approximately 60 employees at the New Berlin facility.

Construction is to start in April, with the buildings open for business in March 2021.

Drexel Building Supply, based in Campbellsport, also has locations in Berlin, Kiel, Little Chute, Wrightstown, Sheboygan Falls and Columbus. It has 390 employees.

The company, founded in 1985, sells lumber, siding and other building materials.

Drexel also sells such finished products as cabinets, counter tops, decks, doors, windows and flooring.
