Player of the week

Anna Mortag, Brookfield Central: The IUPUI recruit led the Lancers to three victories last week. The biggest came in a 79-72 victory over No. 1 Germantown in which the 6-0 guard/forward made 11 of 19 shots, including 5 for 9 from three-point range, and posted 35 points and 12 rebounds. She added 22 points in a 67-33 win over West Allis Hale Friday and 30 points in a 50-38 win over Arrowhead Saturday.

Teams of the week

South Milwaukee

The Rockets are on the brink of their second straight Woodland East title following victories over Shorewood and Brown Deer last week. The Brown Deer game Friday pitted the division’s co-leaders.

South Milwaukee won, 49-41, as sophomores Hailey Johnson and Mia Johnson scored 14 points each while senior Kayla Tierney added nine points.

The Rockets are one win away from assuring themselves a share of the division title, which could happen as soon as Friday.

Brookfield Academy

The Knights made a major move toward their fifth straight Midwest Classic title last week with victories over Messmer and Lake Country Lutheran, their closest competitor­s in the league race. Last Monday, senior wing Julia Jensen had 16 points and Jacqueline Dieck, a sophomore guard, and Morgan Allen, a junior post, added eight points in a 50-38 victory. Two days later, junior guard Ellie Jensen (19), senior forward Erina Weiss (12) and Dieck (12) scored in double-digits in a 64-53 win over Lake Country Lutheran. An 81-12 victory over HOPE Christian on Friday left the team with an 8-0 league record entering the week.

Milwaukee Marshall at Milwaukee Pulaski, 7 p.m. Tuesday: Defending City Blue champion Marshall will try to remain undefeated in divisional play.

Oconomowoc at Mukwonago, 7 p.m. Tuesday: The winner of this matchup will be in the driver’s seat for the Classic 8 crown.

South Milwaukee at New Berlin Eisenhower, 7 p.m. Tuesday: Woodland East leader South Milwaukee sees how it measures up to one of the best in the Woodland West.

Brown Deer at Whitnall, 7 p.m. Tuesday: South Milwaukee will be hard to catch in the Woodland East. Secondplac­e is on the line here.

Oak Creek at Kenosha Indian Trail, 7

p.m. Friday: Barring an upset Tuesday, Oak Creek will have a chance to clinch its eighth straight Southeast Conference title with a win.
