CAMP REPORT

-

On the field: The Brewers scored all their runs in the second inning, with Orlando Arcia’s three-run home run the big blow as they downed the Kansas City Royals, 4-2, at American Family Fields of Phoenix on Thursday.

It was the second homer of the spring for Arcia, who’s off to a much-needed hot start.

Brett Anderson, Adrian Houser and Brent Suter each pitched two innings. The Royals’ runs came off Suter and were unearned.

Weather: 71 degrees and sunny.

Scoreboard: Brewers 4, Royals 2. Record: 3-2-1. Friday: Brewers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, 2:05 p.m. Milwaukee RHP Brandon Woodruff vs. Los Angeles LHP Clayton Kershaw. TV: FS Wisconsin. Radio: FM-94.5.

Cactus Juice: With Lorenzo Cain playing in his first Cactus League game on Thursday, that leaves Christian Yelich, Ryan Braun and the injured Luis Urías as the only position players yet to see action for the Brewers.

Yelich and Braun will phase in next week. Urías, recovering from surgery on his left hand in late January, might see some game action toward the end of spring training.

“I think he will,” manager Craig Counsell said. “I don’t know if he’ll play in a lot, but I think it’s a good possibility. “We have to understand, we’re not missing anything right now. We’re not missing any game action. This is the time of year when you can be cautious.” Aside from right-hander Miguel Sanchez, every pitcher in camp has seen game action for the Brewers. Sanchez has been limited due to a sore back that isn’t considered serious.

Countdown: 27 days until the Brewers’ season opener on March 26 vs. the Chicago Cubs at Miller Park. Todd Rosiak
