‘Miller Strong’ T-shirts made for Molson Coors workers.
A popular local T-shirt company, Brew City Brand, was making “Miller Strong” shirts for Molson Coors employees Thursday. The shirts being offered to the employees are gray and white with a screen-printed heart featuring the classic “Miller” script.
The gesture comes after a gunman killed five people at the brewery in Miller Valley.
“When this all was first coming to the general public, we were just floored over here and our whole office was silent,” said Brew City Brand co-owner George Keppler. “We thought it would be really nice if we could do what we do best: Make T-shirts to our friends at Molson Coors.”
The company started getting the Tshirt presses running at 4 a.m. Thursday, two hours earlier than it opens on most days. It printed 1,000 T-shirts and wrapped up around 10 a.m.
The Milwaukee T-shirt company said it has worked with Miller Brewing for more than 30 years.
“We’re just thinking of the families of the victims and how we can help,” Keppler said.
The shirt design came from Keppler’s business partner.
“He sent an email and it just had this heart with ‘Miller Strong’ on it,” Keppler said. “It was just coming from his heart, and he wasn’t thinking of T-shirts at the time.”
Brew City Brand is working to get in contact with Molson Coors to figure out how to distribute the shirts to employees. After employees receive their shirts, Brew City Brand will see if the company can sell the T-shirts to the general public with profits going towards some kind of donation for victims.
“It’s been overwhelming how many people have said they want to buy them,” Keppler said. “If we do sell them, Brew City Brand doesn’t want to profit from it.”
